Vishram Ghat is Mathura's holiest bathing ghat on the Yamuna River — the spot where Lord Krishna rested (vishram = rest) after slaying the demon Kansa. The most important of Mathura's 25 ghats, it is the starting point of the Mathura parikrama (circumambulation) and hosts the city's most spectacular evening Yamuna Aarti. Sunrise and sunset boat rides from Vishram Ghat offer panoramic views of the historic ghats and temple spires along the river. A top Mathura pilgrimage site.
