Govardhan Hill — also called Giriraj — is the sacred hill 22 km from Mathura that Lord Krishna lifted on his little finger to shelter the villagers of Braj from Indra's wrath. The 21 km Govardhan Parikrama (circumambulation of the hill) is one of the most important rituals in Vaishnavism, undertaken barefoot by millions of devotees. The Kusum Sarovar, Mansi Ganga tank, and Dan Ghati are key stops. One of the most sacred Braj Mandal pilgrimage destinations.
