Sri Krishna Temple

Sri Krishna Temple

Udupi Sri Krishna Temple is one of the most important Vaishnava temples in South India — the 13th-century Madhva institution established by philosopher-saint Srimad Anandatirtha (Madhvacharya), famous for the unique darshan of Lord Krishna through a window of 9 holes (Navagraha Kannadika). The temple manages the Udupi ashta matha (eight monasteries) system and is the origin of the pan-Indian Brahmin community. The Paryaya festival (every 2 years) is spectacular.
