Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka at 1,930 metres and the crown jewel of trekking in Chikmagalur. The trail winds through shola forests, rolling coffee-scented meadows, and granite boulders, culminating at a small Shiva temple at the summit with 360-degree views of the Western Ghats. On clear days you can see the Arabian Sea on the horizon — making the Mullayanagiri trek one of the most rewarding summit experiences in South India.

Chikmagalur is the birthplace of Indian coffee and a guided tour through its shade-grown Arabica and Robusta coffee estates is an absolute must-do experience. Walking between rows of coffee plants heavy with red cherries, learning the traditional pulping and sun-drying process, and sitting down to a freshly brewed cup of estate coffee at source is one of the most sensory and satisfying experiences in Karnataka tourism.

Baba Budangiri is a sacred mountain range and pilgrimage site of immense importance to both Hindus and Muslims in Karnataka. The dargah of Sufi saint Hazrat Dada Hayath Khalandar is built around a natural cave where the saint is said to have meditated, and it is one of the most notable examples of syncretic religious culture in South India. The surrounding landscape of rolling green hills and shola forests makes the journey here as rewarding as the destination.

Wayanad, a verdant district in Kerala's northeastern highlands bordering Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, is a treasure chest of biodiversity, ancient tribal culture, and misty plantation landscapes. The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, shelters elephants, tigers, leopards, and a spectacular variety of birds. Bamboo rafting on the Kabini River, exploring the prehistoric Edakkal Caves with their neolithic carvings, and trekking to the majestic Chembra Peak — the highest in Wayanad — are experiences that make this district an extraordinary eco-tourism destination.

Munnar, perched at 1,600 meters in the Western Ghats of Kerala, is one of South India's most stunning hill stations, famous for its endless rolling carpets of tea plantations, misty mountains, and biodiversity-rich forests. The Eravikulam National Park near Munnar is the last stronghold of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and transforms into a floral wonderland when the rare Neelakurinji flowers bloom every 12 years. Tea museum visits, plantation walks, sunrise at Meesapulimala peak, and stays in colonial-era tea estate bungalows make Munnar a quintessential Kerala highlands experience.

111 km · Udupi, a temple town on Karnataka's Tulu Nadu coast, is revered across India as the birthplace of the Udupi cuisine style — the vegetarian South Indian dishes now famous globally through countless restaurants — and as the home of the ancient Sri Krishna Matha temple founded by philosopher-saint Madhvacharya in the 13th century. The temple's famous Kanakana Kindi window, through which the saint Kanakadasa is said to have received darshan of Krishna, is one of the most touching legends in Vaishnava tradition.
