Baba Budangiri is a sacred mountain range and pilgrimage site of immense importance to both Hindus and Muslims in Karnataka. The dargah of Sufi saint Hazrat Dada Hayath Khalandar is built around a natural cave where the saint is said to have meditated, and it is one of the most notable examples of syncretic religious culture in South India. The surrounding landscape of rolling green hills and shola forests makes the journey here as rewarding as the destination.
Both Hindus and Muslims visit the shrine — dress conservatively and maintain respectful silence inside the cave sanctuary.
