Umaid Bhawan Palace

Umaid Bhawan Palace

Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of the world's largest private residences — a magnificent Art Deco sandstone palace built between 1928 and 1943 by Maharaja Umaid Singh to provide employment during a severe famine. Part palace-hotel (Taj), part royal residence, and part museum, it is one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in Asia. Voted the World's Best Hotel (TripAdvisor) multiple times, its Maharaja Museum is open to non-guests. A top Jodhpur heritage landmark.
