Sindhudurg Fort

Sindhudurg Fort is one of India's most magnificent sea fortifications — a vast 17th-century Maratha naval fortress built by Chhatrapati Shivaji on a rocky island off Malvan, with 3 km of walls, freshwater wells inside, and active temples. Accessible by boat from Malvan jetty in 10 minutes. A top Tarkarli and Malvan heritage sightseeing destination. Entry fee applies; the foundation technique using lead and iron is extraordinary. Best visited in morning light. Allow 90 minutes inside.
