Ekambareswarar Temple

Ekambareswarar Temple

Ekambareswarar Temple is one of the five Pancha Bhuta Stalas — enshrining Lord Shiva as the element of Earth (Prithvi Lingam) — in Kanchipuram. Its towering 59-metre gopuram, the sacred mango tree (4,000 years old) whose four branches represent four Vedas, and the 1,000-pillar hall are remarkable. One of the largest temple complexes in India at 23 acres. A top Kanchipuram sightseeing attraction and essential pilgrimage stop for Shaivite devotees across South India.
