Kolaba Fort Walk at Low Tide

Alibaug

Kolaba Fort rising from the sea just 2 km from Alibaug beach is one of Maharashtra's most photogenic Maratha-era fortifications — and the only sea fort in the Konkan that you can actually walk to on foot at low tide. The 30-minute causeway walk across the wet sand to the fort, flanked by the open Arabian Sea on both sides, is an experience that feels genuinely adventurous. Inside the fort, cannons, temples, and ancient wells reveal the ingenuity of the Maratha naval empire.

2–3 hours (including walk)FreeLow tide in morning (check tide tables before visiting)

Pro tip from your tour advisor

Check the tide schedule at your hotel the previous evening — the causeway is only passable for about 2–3 hours on either side of low tide. Don't get stranded.
