Pin Valley National Park is a cold desert biosphere and one of the last sanctuaries of the elusive Snow Leopard in India. Trekking or jeep-safariing through the park offers a chance to spot ibex, Tibetan wolf, and hundreds of migratory Himalayan bird species. The stark, alien landscape of Pin Valley — with its crumbling mud-brick villages and stark grey cliffs — is as much the attraction as the wildlife.
Hire a local naturalist guide from Mudh village — they know the terrain intimately and significantly increase your chances of wildlife sightings.
