Kedarnath
Undertake a strenuous but extraordinarily rewarding 8 km trek from Kedarnath Temple to Vasuki Tal (5,100 m) — a high-altitude glacial lake ringed by snow peaks including Chaukhamba (7,138 m) and Kedarnath Peak (6,940 m). This is one of the Himalayas' most visually spectacular short treks.
Only attempt this if you are already well-acclimatised and physically fit. The trail above the temple is unmarked in sections — hire a local shepherd-guide from Kedarnath.
