Kardang Monastery

Kardang Monastery (Kardang Gompa) is the largest and most important Buddhist monastery in Lahaul, perched dramatically across the Bhaga River from Keylong at 3,500 m. Belonging to the Drukpa Kagyu tradition, it houses a library of Tibetan manuscripts, thangkas, and a sacred hat of Naropa. The 3 km trek from Keylong through forested slopes rewards with panoramic Lahaul valley views.
