Kalimpong
The Kalimpong Market (also known as the Haat Bazaar) is a vibrant weekly market where Lepcha, Bhutia, Nepali, and Bengali traders converge to sell everything from Himalayan herbs and organic local produce to handwoven Tibetan carpets and antiques. The street food scene around the market — hot momos, sael roti, butter tea, and chukauni (potato-yogurt salad) — represents the incredible cultural melting pot that makes Kalimpong unique among Himalayan hill towns.
The market is most lively between 9 AM and 1 PM. Keep small change handy as most vendors do not accept UPI or cards.
