Havelock Island
Paddle through the silent mangrove channels on Havelock's eastern shore at dawn, where the labyrinthine forest of mangrove roots is home to sea eagles, kingfishers, monitor lizards, and occasionally small saltwater crocodiles. The stillness of the forest at sunrise is extraordinary.
Guided mangrove kayak tours are essential — the channels look identical and getting lost without a guide is very easy.
