Doodhpathri
The trek from Doodhpathri to Tosa Maidan is a moderate one-day trail through some of the most hauntingly beautiful highland meadows in Kashmir. Tosa Maidan is an enormous plateau meadow at over 10,000 feet and the views from its open expanse across the Great Himalayan Range are exceptional. This route passes through several seasonal Gujjar shepherd encampments where you can share a cup of kehwa (Kashmiri green tea) with nomadic herders living by ancient seasonal traditions.
Carry a full day's supply of food and water as there are no permanent shops or settlements on this route. The trek involves river crossings that can be tricky in early June when snowmelt is high.
