Doodhpathri
The cold, clear streams of Doodhpathri are excellent trout fishing waters and one of Kashmir's best-kept secrets for fly fishing enthusiasts. Brown trout are abundant in these streams and the act of casting a fly in a crystalline Kashmiri meadow stream surrounded by wildflowers and mountains is a meditative, almost spiritual experience. The J&K Fisheries Department manages the fishing rights and issues day permits from the nearby check post.
Catch-and-release is strongly encouraged and best practice. Bring your own fly fishing gear or rent basic equipment from stalls near the meadow entrance.
