Dhanushkodi Beach

Dhanushkodi Beach

Dhanushkodi is a hauntingly beautiful ghost town at the very tip of Pamban Island — the southernmost point of Rameswaram, where the Bay of Bengal meets the Indian Ocean. Destroyed by a catastrophic cyclone in 1964, its ruins of a railway station, church, and houses remain on the beach. The pristine, deserted white-sand beach with the Ram Setu (Adam's Bridge) shoal visible in the distance is one of India's most dramatic and atmospheric landscapes. Jeep safari from Rameswaram.
