Coorg, also known as Kodagu, is Karnataka's misty hill district and one of South India's most sought-after destinations, renowned for its sweeping coffee and spice estates, cascading waterfalls, and the fierce and proud Kodava warrior culture. The emerald landscapes of the Western Ghats host an extraordinary variety of wildlife, and trekking to Tadiandamol — Coorg's highest peak — is a must-do. The Namdroling Monastery (Golden Temple) in Bylakuppe, the Raja's Seat viewpoint in Madikeri, and the thundering Abbey Falls are iconic stops on any Coorg itinerary.

2–3 hours
Walk through Coorg's lush coffee plantations — home to India's finest Arabica and Robusta grown under native shade trees. Estate tours at Tata Coffee's plantation in Pollibetta, Silver Oak Estate, or homestay-attached estates cover the full coffee cycle: planting, harvest, wet processing, sun-drying, roasting, and cupping — with direct-from-tree tasting.

1–2 hours per fall
Explore Coorg's dramatic waterfalls — Abbey Falls (7 km from Madikeri; a 70-foot cascade through a private coffee estate with a hanging bridge viewpoint), Iruppu Falls (near Nagarhole National Park; sacred waterfall where the river Lakshmana Tirtha flows), and Cherambane Falls in the dense rainforest.

4–7 hours round trip
Trek through Coorg's biodiverse Western Ghats landscape on routes to Tadiandamol (1,748 m — Coorg's highest peak; 7 km trek through shola forests and grasslands), Brahmagiri Peak (1,608 m; 6 km trek from Iruppu), and the dramatic Kopatty Hill with its panoramic views over coffee and pepper plantations.

2–3 hours
Visit the Dubare Elephant Camp on the banks of the Cauvery River — where trained elephants from the Mysore Palace come for their daily baths. Activities include helping bathe, feed, and be with the elephants under mahout supervision, and optional elephant rides through the forest.

2–3 hours
Raft through the exciting rapids of the Barapole River near Galibeedu — Coorg's white-water rafting hub offering Grade III–IV rapids through dense forest gorges. The Barapole provides some of Karnataka's most thrilling river adventure, particularly during and just after the monsoon season.

1–2 hours
Take a self-guided or guided walk through the mixed spice and coffee plantations of Coorg — identifying cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and cocoa growing alongside coffee under the forest canopy. The biodiversity of a Coorg plantation — with birds, butterflies, frogs, and small mammals — is extraordinary.
