The UNESCO World Heritage Nilgiri Mountain Railway — popularly known as the Toy Train — runs its most scenic stretch between Coonoor and Mettupalayam, winding through 16 tunnels, over 13 bridges, and through continuous tea estate panoramas. The historic rack-and-pinion steam train chugging through the Western Ghats at a gentle pace is one of India's most iconic railway journeys and a quintessential Coonoor experience for every type of traveller.
