Coonoor
Dolphin's Nose is Coonoor's most famous natural viewpoint — a flat rock protruding like a dolphin's snout over a sheer cliff with breathtaking views of the Catherine Falls (the second highest waterfall in Tamil Nadu) and the deep Nilgiri valleys below. The 6-km drive from Coonoor town through continuous tea gardens and eucalyptus forests to reach this viewpoint is itself a scenic treat.
Do not lean over the edge of the rock for selfies — the drop beyond is several hundred feet. The viewpoint can get crowded on weekends; a weekday morning visit is ideal.
