Chikmagalur
Hebbe Falls is a two-tiered waterfall that plunges 168 metres through dense Bhadra Tiger Reserve forest — one of the most spectacular waterfalls near Chikmagalur. The 14-km jeep safari and short hike to reach the falls passes through dense elephant country, making the journey itself a wildlife adventure. Swimming in the natural pool at the base of the falls, surrounded by ancient forest, is an experience of pure, unfiltered Karnataka wilderness.
The forest road is passable only by jeep — private cars are not permitted. Watch for elephants and gaur (Indian bison) along the forest trail.
