The bamboo groves surrounding Ziro Valley's Apatani villages are a defining feature of the landscape — dense, towering stands of bamboo interspersed with pine forest that create a unique, lush green atmosphere unlike any other hill valley in India. The Apatani community uses bamboo for construction, utensils, food (bamboo shoots are a local delicacy), and handicrafts. Walking through these bamboo corridors in the mist is one of Ziro Valley's most atmospheric and photogenic experiences.
