Alpather Lake

Alpather Lake is a pristine and breathtakingly beautiful glacial lake at 3,843 metres, located 13 km from Gulmarg in the shadow of the Apharwat massif, surrounded by snowfields and Himalayan meadows. The lake remains frozen beneath a thick icy crust until late June, and the journey to reach it — on foot, horseback, or via the gondola plus a trek — is as spectacular as the destination. Alpather Lake Gulmarg is one of the most serene and unspoilt high-altitude lakes in all of Jammu and Kashmir, offering extraordinary natural beauty in every season.
